AI in Metanoa
Metanoa has AI built directly into the tools you already use every day, so there's nothing extra to learn and no separate tool to open. It's there when you need it, in the right place at the right time.
What Can AI Help With?
AI in Metanoa is designed to save therapists time on documentation. Writing clinical notes, structuring session plans, summarising goal progress, generating assessment reports, and even typing by speaking are all things the AI can assist with.
Where does AI show up?
You'll find AI where documentation happens. Look for the sparkle icon or buttons labelled Generate in the following places:
- Session notes, when writing or editing a session
- Session plans, after you've selected goals for a session
- Assessment forms, when you open a completed assessment
- Goals, in the goal summary section
- Voice input, in most text fields across Metanoa
What AI Does and Doesn't Do
What AI does well?
It takes the information you've already entered and turns it into structured, well-written content. A few rough notes become a SOAP note. A list of goals becomes a session plan. A completed assessment form becomes a clinical report. It saves you from staring at a blank page.
What AI doesn't do?
It doesn't know your client. It works from what you give it, so the output is only as good as the input. Always read what it generates and edit anything that doesn't reflect the full picture. AI output in Metanoa is a starting point, not a finished document.
Heads up, AI features require your organization to have the necessary API access configured. If you don't see AI buttons where you'd expect them, check with your Admin.
A Note on Clinical Judgment
AI in Metanoa assists with documentation. It doesn't make clinical decisions, recommendations, or diagnoses. Everything it generates should be reviewed by the therapist before saving or sharing. Your professional judgment always comes first.
Common Questions
Do I have to use AI features?
No. All AI features are optional. You can write session notes, session plans, and goal summaries entirely by hand if you prefer. The AI buttons are there when you want them and out of the way when you don't.
Will AI features save what I write automatically?
Each feature behaves slightly differently, but as a general rule, AI generates content into the field you're working in and you save it as part of your normal workflow. Nothing is saved behind the scenes without you confirming it.
Who can use AI features?
Any staff member with permission to edit the relevant content can use the AI features within it. There's no separate AI permission to request.
