How do I create a department?

Setting up departments helps organize your clinic by therapy type and controls who can see which clients.

Let's Create Your Departments

1. Click your name in the bottom left corner of the screen
2. Click "Settings" from the popup menu
3. Click "Departments" under the Admin section on the left
4. Click "+ Add Department" and enter the department name
5. Save your new department and you're all set!

You can now assign team members to this department when you add or edit their profiles.

Good to Know

• You need at least one department before you can add team members, otherwise there's nothing to assign them to
• Common departments include OT, SLT, EIP, Psychology, and Behavior Therapy, but you can create whatever fits your clinic
• A team member can belong to multiple departments if they work across different therapy areas

Common Questions

• Can I delete a department? Be careful with this since deleting a department affects everyone assigned to it. Make sure to reassign team members and clients before removing a department.

Departments are the main way Metanoa controls who can see which clients. When you assign someone to a department, they can see all the clients in that department.

How It Works

• When someone is assigned to a department, they can see all the clients in that department
• If they're not assigned to a department, they won't see any clients from that department
• You can assign someone to multiple departments if they need to work across different areas

Good to Know

• Department access is all or nothing, so if someone is assigned to a department they can see all the clients in it
• Frontdesk users can see scheduling info across departments but have limited access to clinical details
• Owners automatically have access to all departments
